Christmas is a holiday many Drumheller children look forward to... It's something that the children of Roatan look forward to as well. With many devastating factors contributing to the current crisis in Honduras, the Morgan Jayne Project is running somewhat behind schedule for their Annual Christmas Gift Event. Morgan's Dad, Fred Makowecki explains that they've decided to put the project into high gear, with the goal of gathering gifts and having them shipped out by the first week of November. He says that last year, the event brought together more than 650 kilos of gifts for the children and $2200 was raised for shipping costs. He also mentions that it takes about a month and a half for the gifts to make it down to Roatan, because of customs. Currently there are 85 children on the list, but Makowecki says that there are always room for more. "Now, you have to realize for every kid on the list there's probably 3 or 4 that show up that day, longingly from the outside looking in... and we've managed to just about fill everybody's wish for a good Christmas down there." If you'd like to make a monetary donation to the event, Makowecki says that any sort of contribution is welcome.
