The Western GM Girls Pee Wee fast pitch Provincials will be taking over the Newcastle Diamonds this weekend, with teams coming from all over Alberta, including Airdrie, Strathmore, Camrose, Innisfail and more. The first game starts Friday morning at 11:30am, and this game included the Drumheller girls team. Games will go on all day Friday, and the opening ceremonies will be at 5:30 that night. The games will continue all through Saturday and Sunday, with the final championship game to be around 4:00 Sunday afternoon.

Coach for the team Shari Fournier says the girls are extremely excited to be playing." They are all very excited, this is their first time for most of them in provincials, and i think the first time Drumheller has ever hosted, so we are all very very excited".

Canopy's have been erected over each dugout, to ensure that the girls wont be over whelmed by the heat that can occur during these hot July months. this was the idea of the parents, who want to make sure their girls get all the support they need. The team would like to thank their title sponsor, Western GM, as well as the team sponsor, Richardson Bulk Sales, Jim and Sherri Broom, as well as the support from the community, that help fill their program which is over 20 pages long,thanks to all the support.

If the weather decides to interfere, the tournament will be delayed until the following weekend.
