6 young Alberta ranchers will get the opportunity to find out whatever they want to about the beef industry.

The Canadian Cattlemen's Association rolled out it's new Young Leaders Development Program as a pilot in this province to link producers between the ages of 18 and 35 with mentors to explore a career choice or become involved in agriculture politics.

Coordinator Jill Harvie says the program won't take up a lot of time for those involved and is flexible in linking the potential young leaders with those in the know. "Depending on if they select the professional mentor ship which is in a beef related career choice". she says, "they could select from a variety of different areas and have a mentor ship in communications, animal health, journalism, with a feedlot operator, feedstock operator and the list goes on".

Harvie says the deadline for applications is at the end of the month and the program will launch country wide in the new year.
