Kinsmen Receive Donation For Playground

The Drumheller Kinsmen are another step closer to constructing a new playground for the Greentree area.

On Friday, December 28, a cheque was presented by Pyramid Corporations, Derek Campbell to the Drumheller Kinsmen. Western GM's Salesman and Kinsmen Member, Pat Mohan accepted the $1,000 donation on behalf of former Kinsmen President, Ashley Wright.

“I came in to talk to Ashley one day and he said he was looking for donations for the beautification of the park. It just so happened earlier that week I had talked to the union and they had handed out some things on building communities together. There were some funds available and we got some funds for Ash,” said Campbell.

The funds were made available through the Union CLAC, and Drumheller was the lucky name drawn for a donation.

“The Union that represents the employees of Pyramid makes this effort to support local communities where our employees work and live,” said CLAC Representative, Mike Montague.

The hope is to return the park to it's former glory, offering children a place to play.

“When I grew up there was a bunch of kids always playing in that park and over the last couple of years the equipment has been removed. So it will be good to hear and see kids playing in the playground again,” added Campbell.
