NeoCitran Shortage Canada Wide

liam-sickDrum FM's Liam Hilchey could sure use some NeoCitran goodness.

It's cold and flu season and many people seeking relief have been unable to obtain the popular drug NeoCitran.

The pharmaceutical company who produces the product is currently improving their factories, creating a Canada wide drought of the cold and flu fighter. Novartis Consumer Health released this statement concerning the shortage.

“Novartis Consumer Health is conducting maintenance and improvements at its manufacturing site to ensure our products meet the highest quality standards. As a result, we are experiencing a supply disruption of Benefibre, Buckley’s, Excedrin, Maalox, NeoCitran, Otrivin, Triaminic and Slow Fe in Canada. We are working as quickly as we can to return these products back on to store shelves.  We appreciate the patience and loyalty of our consumers and retail partners, and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience the absence of these products has caused.”

Local pharmacies have been meeting the demand with generic brands of the product.

“We have been able to get some of our house brand in,” said Pharmacist for Freson Brothers IGA, Pat Doyle.

Riverside Value Drug Mart has been feeling the shortage and hope to see the popular product back in action. They are offering other items to help cold and flu suffers. Shoppers Drug Mart in town also carry a solution similar to NeoCitron and have it available for consumers.

Currently no date has been released for when the product will be back on shelves.
