The Badlands Amphitheatre was a busy place all weekend long with people coming from far and wide to enjoy three big concerts.
They call the event the “Great Big Weekend” with Corb Lund and Aysanabee on Friday night, William Prince and Serena Ryder on Saturday night, and Blue Rodeo on Sunday evening. According to Executive Director Vance Neudorf, it was a great weekend of music. “The weekend was fantastic. Great weather, great talent, three very different concerts. When we talk 6,000, we’re not talking the same people. Six thousand separate individuals came through because the concerts were quite different. How could you argue with the talent coming in? These are top notch professional acts that are coming into Drumheller.”
The weekend ended with a sellout of Blue Rodeo. Neudorf notes that he was not surprised. “Just look at the caliber of that concert and how much fun people had at that event. The smiles and the joy of being there. That’s what makes it work for us just watching that level of enjoyment at our little amphitheatre.”
The events continue this summer with 2024 Go Badlands on August 23 – 25 , including a concert with Ruben and the Dark with Bullhorn Singers.
On September 7th, Roots, Blues, and BBQ is back for another year. For tickets to both the events, visit the Badlands Amphitheatre’s website. There is also opportunities to volunteer for both events. Contact information is also on their website.
