Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of last week (September 18, 19, 20) Western GM held their annual Coats For Kids drive.
For the past 16 years, every fall the dealership encourages residents from Drumheller and the surrounding area to bring in lightly used coats, mitts, toques, and scarves for those in our community that need it. Brad LeDrew, General Sales Manager, is impressed on the outpouring of our community for outdoor clothing. “We always get great support. It’s a great fundraiser. We’ve got two half tons here in the showroom that are jammed packed with coats, toques, mitts, pants for adults, kids, youth. It’s so wonderful.”

With the event going on for 16 years, LeDrew admits that they seem to get more and more every year. “I think people recognize something that is a good cause for our community. Unfortunately, there are people that need a little help. Customers of ours, people from out of town, want to help out people. It’s a great way to help out people when it’s a little colder.”
LeDrew acknowledges that the connection to the community is very important to Western GM. “We’ve partnered with the Salvation Army many times over the years, especially with Coats For Kids. We are a big supporter of many different local organizations and charities. Of course, we are big supporters of our Drumheller Dragons. Western GM, the owners, Doug and Barb, Hellar before them, and our staff are big supporters of our community.”
The coats and winter items will now be taken over to the Salvation Army and they will set up a date for when those who need these items, can come and pick out what they need.
