For the first time in the Drumheller Dragons’ 22-year history, a national CJHL award is coming to the franchise, as Easton Daneault has won the Top Rookie Award for the 2024-25 season.
The first-year Dragons forwards from Red Deer recorded 56 points in 54 games, which tied him for first among rookies this season, and earlier nabbed the AJHL’s Rookie of the Year Award. The now 17-year-old tied for seventh in AJHL scoring, averaging 1.04 points-per-game, and picked up 21 goals and 53 assists, including 24 points on the power play.
Twice named AJHL Rookie of the Week, Daneault notched five game-winning goals and earned five AJHL Player of the Game selections.
He is also committed to Merrimack College (Hockey East) on NCAA Division I scholarship, and was rostered for 6 regular season games and 8 playoff games with the WHL’s Lethbridge Hurricanes, where he picked up 1 and 2 points respectively.
