For years there has been discussions on the core of Drumheller, how to freshen it up and make it more of a destination.
The Town of Drumheller has been working with downtown businesses and a number of partners with the Downtown Area Revitalization Plan. As part of the plan, the Town is introducing the Downtown Streetscape Task Force. This is a key project under the 2025 Capital Program with the town involving the detailed design of Centre Street between Railway Avenue East and Riverside Drive East. This design will serve as the template for future downtown streetscape improvements, helping to reestablish downtown Drumheller as the cultural and economic heart of the Valley.
This task force is a creation of Drumheller Town Council. The volunteer group will provide insight and feedback on essential design elements, including:
- Street furniture options
- Sidewalk widths and design details
- Tree density and placement
- Landscaping improvements
- Decorative streetlight options
“This is a chance for downtown business owners and community members to directly influence the look and feel of our downtown for generations to come,” says Jared Brounstein, Director of Infrastructure for the Town of Drumheller.
Drumheller Town Council has asked that the task force includes eight to ten voting members, ensuring a broad and diverse range of perspectives. The task force is to include at least six representatives of downtown businesses and at least two representatives from the general community.
Applications are now open and will be accepted until June 30, 2025. If you are passionate about the future of Downtown Drumheller and want to play a role in revitalizing the downtown core, submit your application by visiting www.drumheller.ca or by email at legislativeservices@drumheller.ca.
