The Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce has sent a release sharing that the gift shop, tourist information, and World’s Largest Dinosaur are going to be temporarily closing this fall for some renovations.
The Drumheller & District Chamber of Commerce will temporarily adjust operating hours for the World’s Largest Dinosaur (WLD), Giftshop and Visitor Information Centre this September to allow for scheduled maintenance and upgrades. The closure is part of ongoing work to maintain and enhance the attraction ahead of Tyra’s 25th anniversary celebration in October.
On Friday, September 5, the WLD will be closed for a structural assessment by Williams Engineering. The Giftshop and Visitor Information Centre will remain open during this time. From Monday, September8 to Sunday, September 28, the WLD, Giftshop and Visitor Information Centre will be closed to the public for exterior repair and painting of the dinosaur, as well as an interior refresh of the Giftshop. This period may be extended depending on weather and contractor timelines. Exterior work will be completed by F & D Scene Changes, with crews scheduled Monday through Friday. The interior upgrades will include new wall coverings, a redesigned retail floor plan and updated display units in the Giftshop. The south portion of the parking lot will also be closed to accommodate equipment such as cube vans and zoom booms.
