At just after 9:30 AM, Drumheller Fire and Rescue, EMS, RCMP, Apex Utilities, ATCO Electric, and Municipal Services were called to a fire in one of the suites of Twin Hills Manor across from Sandstone Lanes in Drumheller.
From initial reports from Deputy Fire Chief Duane Bolin, the fire was limited to one area on the first (basement) floor. “Right now, all we know is that there was a fire on the first floor of the apartment building. We isolated it to that room and the rooms on either side. There was heavy smoke and heat damage throughout the building.”

The fire was on the first (basement) floor.
There are 20 units in the building and all of the residents evacuated. According to Bolin, everyone is safe. “Everyone got out in time. We are just ventilating the building now to assess the damage.”
11th Avenue was closed to the public with emergency crews all gathered on the street. The fire was in an apartment on the south of the building on the first floor. Crews were on scene from the Drumheller main hall, Rosedale Hall, and East Coulee Hall. No word on if and when the residents will be able to return to their homes.
We will update the story as more information becomes available.
