There are some changes for Travel Drumheller.
Longtime Executive Director Julia Fielding resigned from her position as of September 28th. This presents a vacancy for the organization. Chair Ryan Semchuk admits that Fielding has been a big part of the success of Travel Drumheller. “Julia has been a great leader and advocate for our work in the community and throughout. Her dedication, passion, and vision has really helped shape who we are today and has set that foundation. As much as we are going to miss having Julia around, our board and organization are prepared. We have a great hiring committee in place to find somebody to fill the shoes and will be continuing on status as normal. We’ve got the strategy plan, the Destination Development plan, all of those things are still rolling. I think we haven’t been in a better place (then now) for tourism growth in the region.”
It will be a process to identify the right person to help the organization move forward and Semchuk notes that they hope to find the right person as soon as possible. “With the proper due diligence, we would like to do it as soon as possible. That being said, given the role, we want to be sure that we find the right person and the right fit for the organization. That could take a little bit of time but we are going to be out getting our hiring committee working on finding some candidates right away.”
While they do have a hiring committee in place, Semchuk advises anybody who may be interested to apply. “They can drop off a resume at our office, located in the Community Futures building in Drumheller, or they can contact any of our team members.”
We will update the story when the right candidate is selected.
