On Saturday, October 11th, the community came together to celebrate an icon that has stood over Drumheller for the past 25 years.
The World’s Largest Dinosaur, also affectionately known as “Tyra”, celebrated her 25th birthday. There was a large event that took place in the parking lot in front of the tourist attraction on Saturday afternoon. It was in conjunction with Travel Drumheller and the Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce. Saturday was also celebrated as “I Love the Drumheller Valley” day.
There was entertainment set up at the venue with three musical groups providing the soundtrack to the party. Many that attended, both locals and visitors, got an opportunity to play the numerous games that they had set up. The Drumheller DinoArts Association were also on hand cooking up hot dogs as a fundraiser for their group.
Tyra was looking her best as crews have been working over the past month to fix some of the cracks on her outer shell and she also got a brand new paint job. As well, the gift shop had also been going through a significant renovation and the new look is quite impressive.
