Your Drumheller Dragons had a rare Tuesday night affair at the Memorial Arena against the Calgary Canucks.
It was the first action for the Dragons since Sunday, October 19th as they faced these same Canucks in Calgary. Unfortunately, the team was hoping for a better result but that would not be the case.
The Canucks would open the scoring 11:56 into the first, when a knuckleball shot would fool Dragons netminder Sean Cootes. Mason Koponyas scored his first of the year, and the first would end 1-0 Calgary.
Only 30 seconds into the second period, Calgary would strike on the power play with Nicholas Anisimovicz scoring, making it 2-0 Canucks. The hole for the Dragons would get deeper just over three minutes later with Max Sullivan scoring. Calgary would make it 4-0 with 9:12 left in the second, on a goal by Conner Radke. That would be the end of the night for Dragons netminder Sean Cootes as Brandon Williams would come in to finish the game.
Calgary would add two more in the third with Harper LoLacher and Riley Bracko each scoring making the final 6-0. Drumheller would have their opportunities throughout the game but just couldn’t solve goaltender Noah Nelson.
The Dragons now hit the road for two this weekend and will try to stop this losing streak on Halloween in Bonnyville. Saturday, the team pays their first visit to the Cenovus Energy Hub in Lloydminster to face the Bobcats.
Both games will be on the home of the Dragons, New Country 92.5 with Jason Blanke and Boedy Shields with the Fountain Tire Drumheller Pregame show beginning at 6:45 PM on both Friday and Saturday nights.
