Many landowners in the Drumheller area have provided access to oil and gas companies to their land. Some may have had questions about access and were not quite sure where to go for answers.
This week there will be an open house where local landowners can get the answers they need from the Alberta Energy Regulator, the Farmers’ Advocate Office, and the Orphan Well Association. The Land and Property Rights Tribunal are bringing an open house to the Cretaceous Conference Centre on Wednesday, November 19th from 10 AM to 2 PM. Amy MacArthur, Land and Property Rights Tribunal Manager of Operations and Training, shares that this is for those that have questions about surface rights. “Predominantly landowners, oil and gas operators, anyone that might have questions about surface rights or land rights in and around the Drumheller area.”
The topics discussed are not just limited to oil and gas company access confirms MacArthur. “ We will be joined by the Farmer’s Advocate Office, the Alberta Energy Regulator, the Orphan Well Association, as well as local weed inspectors. There will be some brief presentations beginning at 10 AM. and then of course it is a drop in format after that. Anyone that might have questions about their surface leases, surface rights, rights of entry, rate reviews, they might have questions for either the Farmer’s Advocate or Alberta Energy Regulator with regards to access as well as the Orphan Well Association.”
This event will provide an opportunity for landowners to consult the attending organizations about their specific property shares MacArthur. “They’ll be able to ask specific questions about their individual properties and or their concerns. If there is a relatively large turnover, then there is a possibility that we can rerun the presentations (from earlier in the session) depending on the turnout.”
If you are interested, again no appointments are needed, as it is a drop-in event. If you need more information, reach out to the Land and Property Rights Tribunal by email at lprt@gov.ab.ca, or by phone at 780-427-2444.
