At the Committee of the Whole Meeting for the Town of Drumheller on Tuesday, January 13th, Drumheller RCMP shared their Second Quarter Report from July through September of 2025.
Within the report are the crime statistics for the three month period and there are a number of positives that have come from the report. When it came to enhanced road safety, Drumheller RCMP had some good news. “Drumheller RCMP were very successful this quarter in removing impaired drivers from the roadway. During this period there were 8 drivers removed from the roads for various impaired driving suspensions. There was one motorist that was charged with criminal code impaired driving and 7 others charged under provincial sanctions. Drumheller RCMP conducted 6 check stops during this period which assisted in catching these impaired drivers. Drumheller RCMP teamed up with Alberta Sheriffs on multiple occasions to complete the check stops. This partnership has shown to be very beneficial and effective in targeting these impaired drivers. In addition to the 8 drivers that Drumheller RCMP charged, the Alberta Sheriffs also removed several impaired drivers from the roads during these check stops, which weren’t counted in our stats.”
As for Crime Reduction and Prevention, some positive news over the three month period. “In the months of July to September there were averaging over 100 compliance checks on our offenders, which included multiple breaches of their conditions. Members easily exceeded the target and total checks for the quarter were around 300. Drumheller held a very successful operation street sweep this quarter. Drumheller RCMP worked alongside the Alberta Sheriffs, Drumheller municipal enforcement and Kneehill County to target aggressive drivers. Almost 30 traffic violations were written this day as well as 5 drivers were subjected to alcohol related suspensions and removed from the roads.”
Criminal code offenses were down from the same time in 2024 by 10 percent. Drug Enforcement was also down 69 percent year over year. Motor vehicle collisions were down 22 percent.
