The Conservative Party of Canada is holding its national convention in Calgary this weekend and the question will be posed to delegates if they would like the current MP for Battle River-Crowfoot, Pierre Poilievre, to remain as the leader of the Conservative Party.
Poilievre, who will run in a different constituency in the next federal election, is set to address the party faithful tonight in Calgary. The speech is anticipated to provide the pathway for the Tories to become the next government.
A number of Conservative Premiers will not be able to attend, including Scott Moe from Saskatchewan, Doug Ford from Ontario, Tim Houston from Nova Scotia
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is expected to speak at the convention.
Poilievre will also need the support of the delegates to continue as leader of the party. This is the first time in 20 years that the delegates will vote on whether he should remain leader, after losing the previous federal election to the Liberals this past spring.
Observers note that they expect Poilievre to remain as the leader of the party.
