Some exciting news for one of the Senior Drumheller Titans football players as he will be given the opportunity to go to university in Nova Scotia and play football while he is there.
Noah Lowther is one of only a handful of players that have went through the Titans program that has been given the opportunity to play football at the university level, and he will be going to Acadia University to do so. Lowther has been part of the Titans program for years. “I started (in) Grade 8. I started out as a lineman. Then in Grade 9 I played linebacker, Grade 10, 11, and 12 I played receiver.”
Lowther loved his time as a Titan “It was great. You would go out every Friday night an play against another team. The atmosphere was amazing. It meant a lot to me just being able to play the sport I love.”
The aspirations to play football at a higher level began for Lowther after his first year playing. “It all starting in Grade 9, when I started taking things seriously. I started going to these camps, and training a lot harder. I started going to teams outside of Drumheller to get a little bit more exposure. I played with the Airdrie Raiders as well. It just kind of took off.”
Lowther also had offers from a number of teams in the Canadian Junior Football League and the decision to play university football was a tough one to make. “I built relationships with these junior coaches as well. It was a hard decision but at the end of the day, I want to go to a place where I can get my education.” Acadia University was his number one choice.
Acadia University, in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, is on the other side of the country. Lowther understands that there will be some adjustments coming from the Prairies. “That is going to take a lot of adjusting. The time zones are crazy being three hours difference. I will be able to adapt, it is just a matter of working as hard as I can.”
Lowther would love for this to be his next step in his football career, to possibly the CFL or even the NFL. He also is looking forward to getting a university education at one of the best universities in the country. He is very appreciative of the people involved in his football development. “There are a lot of people I want to thank. One person I want to thank is Ken Fournier, the Head Coach for the Titans. He has done a lot for me in the recruiting process. He has pointed me in the right direction, giving me the rundown on everything. That is definitely a person that has made the biggest impact on my recruiting.”
