Tragedy struck Big Valley in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 26th.
The Big Valley Store that has been on the corner of Main Street and 1st Avenue for years and years went up in flames on Thursday morning. The store had been closed and had just reopened to customers as of mid-February.
According to videos posted on social media on Thursday morning, the store was fully engulfed with fire crews from Big Valley, RCMP, and Stettler EMS on hand. Crews were still on hand at the site as of 9 AM Thursday morning.
The Village of Big Valley has put out via their social media that as a result of the fire, the Village office is without power. They shared that they would update when power returns via their social media.
As this fire just happened this morning, it will take some time to determine the cause of the fire. If an update is provided, we will share.
