During this year’s Boogie In the Badlands event this past weekend in Downtown Drumheller, a number of pin-up girls were on hand striving to be selected at Queen of the Badlands 2025.
The women of True North Pin Up Magazine were on hand in the Drumheller Valley participating in the Boogie In The Badlands festivities. They were also raising funds for a local charity, Colton’s Place. Keri Looijen from True North Pin Up Magazine shares the details on the event. “We hosted a Pin Up Contest and had girls register online prior to the show so we could really market it and help promote Boogie In The Badlands. We work along side them and help plan. I coordinated all the bands that came. We had the pin ups show up and they also did a fundraiser prior to the event. It went fantastic.”
Part of the event was the presentation of Queen of the North for the pin ups and Looijen was selected as Queen. “This has never happened before. I’ve been hosting pin up contests for eight years and the girls got together in a secret group chat and decided they were going to crown me, as I have crowned so many of them, and I have put so much blood, sweat, and tears, into all of the events that we put on.”
The Pin Up Contests are essentially about empowerment admits Looijen. “It’s all about loving the skin that you’re in and living you’re best self. It’s also about showing up and having fun. We’ve built such a girl group, that we hang out and have social events.”
There was also a wedding proposal at the event this weekend and one of the pin up girls will be getting married
There is also opportunities for new pin up girls so if you are interested, visit True North Pin Up Magazine’s website or social media. The group has been doing a number of photo shoots throughout the valley and these will be featured in future months of the magazine. Their next event will be at the drag races at Three Hills Cruise Night on June 7th.
