There are a number of things that are a part of the Drumheller Valley in the summer. One is the warm temperatures, two is the many visitors, and three is entertainment.
Starting this weekend, the annual Summer In The Plaza kicks off at the Downtown Plaza along 1st Street West. According to Erica Crocker, Communications Officer with the Town of Drumheller, Summer In The Plaza has and continues to be very popular. “Summer In The Plaza certainly is a beloved period of time for both residents and visitors to experience live music in the core of our downtown. Bringing live entertainment to Drumheller is just wonderful. It draws people into the downtown core. Our downtown businesses get exposure. Residents and visitors alike can make summertime memories and enjoy local, and Alberta, artists throughout the summer.”
Although the entertainment is a venture of the Town of Drumheller, Crocker shares that there are partnership opportunities available between the Town and local businesses. “We are always looking for businesses and organizations to join us for Summer In The Plaza, to be part of something vibrant and exciting throughout the summer months.” If you are interested in being a partner, or to learn more, reach out by phone at 403-823-1338 or email communitcations@drumheller.ca.
Although the calendar for this year is full up with numerous genres of music, they are always looking for more and different acts to work with, either at Summer In The Plaza or with the Canada Day Celebrations.
“The different styles of music this year are country, some folk, pop music, classic rock, and of course a little blue grass, to shake things up a bit,” admits Crocker. Performance times will be from 6:30-8:30 PM on Friday nights and 2:30-4:30 PM on Saturdays. For a full list of artists, check out the link on our Community Events Calendar.
