This week a number of Model T enthusiasts have come to Central Alberta for a get together.
The Foothills Model T Club out of Calgary are hosting a tour based out of Stettler from July 13th through the 18th. Even though it was a rainy day on Monday, a number of the drivers ventured down Highway 56 to Drumheller to explore the Drumheller Valley. Peter Anderson, from the Hussar area, is one of the organizers of the week long event and shares how exciting it is to have drivers from around North America being part of the event. “It is great. We have them from Florida, California, Iowa, Idaho, Montana, and a few from Canada.”
They have a full week of events planned. “Yesterday (Sunday) was our first day. We stopped and had an ice cream social and a meet and greet. Today (Monday), was our first real tour day so we came down to Drumheller to the (Royal Tyrrell) Museum and show the Americans what we have up here. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is the train to Big Valley. We have a draw where a few cars will go on a flat deck and have the cars go on the train ride. On Wednesday, we have an ice cream social and the day the ladies go shopping downtown in Stettler. Thursday, we drive out to Wetaskiwin.”
To have the great amount of cars on display makes many double take admits Anderson. “I think it’s great when you see this many cars. Most of them are over 100 years old, or older. It’s a good time and lots of great friends that we met.” Traveling in the rain is tough for some as Anderson admits it is wet and cold, yet also admits that it is still fun.
