The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta continues to support area non-profit groups through their Prairie Crocus Community Fund.
In a release by the organization, the Prairie Crocus Advisory Committee Chair, Cindy Goodine, shares that the committee has grown in size to include 12 dedicated volunteers and they have seen an increase in grant applications. “Our region is experiencing a rise in grant applications during bot the Spring and Fall cycles, fostering support across the extensive areas we serve. Spring 2025 marked the second year of funded applications for the Lanfine Wind Community Grant Cycle. We were also honoured to launch the WestMET Community Grant Cycle.”
In the six years of the fund, there have been 69 grants awarded in Special Areas 2, 3, 4, and the MD of Acadia. The grants total nearly $410,000 in that time span. Notable grants in our area this spring were to the Hanna Municipal Library Board for technology upgrades. the Lynks Harvest Sky Services & Support Society in Hanna for the More Than A Meal program, the Youngstown School Nutrition Program, the Richdale Community Association, the Hanna Figure Skating Club, J.C. Charyk School, and the Prairie Land School Division.
