The Rumsey Ride For STARS took place in early August and money has continued to come in from the fundraiser.
Last week, it was announced that the fundraising for 2025 has topped $60,000. One of the organizers, Rob Richmond is quite impressed that they’ve been able to attain such a large number. “I’m even at a loss for words. The whole group effort, we raised over $60,000 for STARS Air Ambulance. Do the salute and thank you to everybody, the volunteers, all of our community partners, and organizing committee, everybody!”
They have always had strong donations year after year and Richmond notes that there were some big donations that pushed the envelope this year. ” We were very fortunate this year too. We had some fantastic big contributions from Ember Resources. We had the Alix Shops just donated a big cheque. Stettler Victim Services donated a monster cheque back in the spring for us. Those really pushed it up but all the little events come together and makes it happen.” Richmond notes that Lynn Tanner helped with the new trail for the ride helped to spark the interest once again.
You always hope for growth and Richmond notes that to hit these numbers is great but its more than that for them. “We never worry about the dollar total. For us, its a Rumsey tradition and people circle it on the calendar. The moniker with ‘the Rumsey Ride For STARS is the longest running fundraiser for STARS in Alberta,’ we want to hold that crown. That’s what its about. Whatever we raise, we raise. We want to keep it fresh, we want keep it going, we want to have fun.”
Plans are already underway for the 37th Annual Rumsey Ride For STARS so be watching for all of the events coming back in 2026.
