Another year and another overwhelming success for the Coats For Kids initiative at Western GM in Drumheller.
The truck box was overfilled in the Western GM showroom on Friday, September 19th and the team, including Brad LeDrew, General Sales Manager of Western GM, were impressed again by the community support. “This Duramax, eight and a half foot box, is full and it is great to see. The community always comes out. Drumheller is such a great community. It’s our 17th Annual Coats For Kids and again you are going to see an 18th next year. It is a huge success.”
The initiative provides an opportunity for area residents to give lightly used winter items, like jackets, toques, gloves, to those who need them but many new items are also donated. “We’ve got brand new gloves and toques, we’ve got brand new jackets, a lot for middle ages school kids and teenagers. There is also some adult stuff here, that’s brand new, and we know that there is a need for it.”
Although the temperatures right now do not require the heavy winter gear, LeDrew and all of us know that the cold is coming. “That’s when this stuff really shines, and really makes a difference. The Salvation Army, they gives this out to local (people) and keep this in town.”
All of the items donated have been taken over to the Salvation Army and later this fall they will have an opportunity for those who need the items, the chance to stop by to grab the items.
