Our Drumheller Dragons had a two game home stand over the weekend and both games turned out to be quite exciting.
It all started on Friday, as your Dragons hosted the Lloydminster Bobcats. Former Dragons netminder Matthew Kondro, who rights were traded to the Bobcats in the offseason for Wyatt Yule, was in the lineup and between the pipes against his former team.
It would be quite the defensive battle between the two teams. The Bobcats would get the first goal at 5:25 of the first period. Kade Fendelet scored his first of the year to give Lloydminster the 1-0 lead. The Dragons would answer later in the first period when the AJHL leading scorer, Bradley Gallo would add to his total, scoring his seventh of the year, assisted by Luca Dufour and Tristan Payne.

The Dragons would give the Bobcats a great chance to get the win late in the third when Nick McLennan would take a five minute major for a check from behind with 4:40 left in the third but goaltender Sean Cootes and the Dragons defense were stellar sending the game to overtime.
Neither team would score and the game would need the shootout. It would need six rounds but Tucker Robertson would score the winner, giving Lloydminster the 2-1 shootout win.
Saturday, the Dragons would host the Drayton Valley Thunder. Drumheller would dominate with shots in the first period and on the scoresheet as well, with Tyler Deakos scoring twice, giving the Dragons a 2-0 lead.
The Thunder would tie the game in the second with two goals of their own, one by Taynton Lavender at 3:32, then Nash Nicolay with 1:04 left in the second. The period would end with the teams tied 2-2
The Dragons would regain their two goal lead in the third period with goals by Sullivan Humeniuk and Matthew Hilderman. Drayton Valley would counter with Daniel Zhou scoring at 7:03, making the score 4-3 Drumheller. At 9:14, Jensen Marsh would score his first as a Dragon, increasing the lead to 5-3. The Thunder would answer with a power play goal by Dryden Tomkow, cutting the deficit to 5-4. The Dragons would continue with strong pressure making it difficult for Drayton Valley to pull their goaltender for the extra attacker. They did so with only 26 seconds remaining and the Dragons held on for the 5-4 victory.
