Monday, the residents of Drumheller made their choice of who they would like to lead our community for the next four years and Tony Miglecz was the choice.
Miglecz, who lives out in East Coulee, shares that he found out late Monday night that he had won the seat as Mayor of Drumheller. “Just before last night (Monday), they gave me a call from Town hall and let me know that I had been successful. They gave me the numbers, by the margins and that. I was actually happily pleased.”
This was not Miglecz’s first attempt to be part of Drumheller Town Council. “I ran last election, as a councillor, and I was unsuccessful but was approached by a number of people who remember our discussions from last time, and that they would vote for me again. That made me feel that I had a better chance because of the residual (conversations) of years ago. The people figured that I was doing the right things still, by all my (community) involvement, and they voted for me.”
Moving forward with the new council, with a couple veteran councillors, Tom Zariski and Patrick Kolafa, along with the new councillors, Cheryl McNeil, Maddie Miller, Travis Hardy, and Mike Hansen, Miglecz feels confident that they can work together. “One of the proudest thing is that we just went through this campaign and there was no negativity. It was all positivity and cooperation. If someone had an opportunity, they let everyone else know that they had and opportunity for meet and greets. We have already been working together and I would still like to work with some of the people that did not get elected because they are some really smart people and do bring a perspective that is not commonly shared.”
Mayor Tony Miglecz and the new Drumheller Town Council will be sworn in on Monday, October 27th at Drumheller Town Hall.
