One of the biggest events in Downtown Drumheller is Halloween.
A large number of the businesses downtown participate in Downtown Trick Or Treating. Amie Courtenay with The Faux Den is participating once again and their team goes all out for Halloween. “It looks like the weather is going to be nice, so it should be busy with the little kids and big kids as well.”
The cost of candy, like most things right now, are going up. The businesses are happy to participate but if local community members would like to help out, it would be appreciated. “They can always drop of a donation to Dry Canyon or Faux Den,” according to Courtenay. “Then we divvy it up between the participating stores, so that it does help to take some of the weight off.” Typically they see between 700 to 1,000 kids every Halloween.
This year’s event will be similar to years past acknowledges Courtenay. “We will start blocking off the road at noon (October 31st) so we can start decorating. Our block, we put a lot out and have a lot of fun. It is from 4 to 6. It’s amazing how there is nobody, then there’s lots, then there’s nobody.”
3rd Avenue West and Centre Street will be the streets blocked off again this year confirms Courtenay. “There are a lot of new stores. They’re excited to decorate and have fun as well.”
