For the past two years people within the Town of Drumheller and those travelling through our community had to contend with construction on the Gordon Taylor Bridge.
Some good news is on the horizon as the Town of Drumheller confirms in a statement that the bridge will open to full traffic this weekend. “On behalf of Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (ATEC) and Everest Construction, the Town is pleased to share that the Gordon Taylor Bridge (BF6615 Project) is anticipated to reopen both lanes to traffic this weekend!”
The work on the driving surface is complete yet crews will remain as there continues to be work on the sidewalk of the bridge. “We kindly ask drivers to slow down, stay alert, and be mindful of workers as you cross the bridge as there will still be ongoing demobilization activity.”
As of Friday morning, the traffic controls were still in place but they should soon be removed and both lanes will be accessible. The Town of Drumheller shares appreciation to the public for their patience. “ATEC and Everest Construction would like to extend a sincere thank you to residents for their patience and understanding throughout the construction season – thank you Drumheller!”
