Mother Nature tried her darndest to quash the annual Hockey Day In Drumheller but the event soldiered on yesterday at the new Midland Outdoor Rink
With temperatures near -16, there were not many on the ice but that did not damper the spirit of the event. There were not as many on hand as per years before but the funds raised for the Midland Hall Association, who operate the Midland Outdoor Rink was quite a good number.
The day started with our partners from DNow firing up the grill for some hot dogs and beverages. Donations were accepted for the food and drink. A&W Drumheller also brought by some delicious hot chocolate. The Drumheller Dragons stopped by to chat with their fans between 11 and 12. A silent auction was set up in the hall for visitors to bid on a number of great items. The team at the Midland Outdoor Rink prepared the ice and it was in pristine condition for the event.
A gigantic thank you to the volunteers from the Midland Community Hall Association for their assistance. Also a shout out to all of our supporters, the Drumheller Dragons, A&W Drumheller, Western GM, Bosch Truck Group, Westview Co-op, Grey Eagle Resort & Casino, Badlands Boot Camp, Sun City Liquidators, Reliable Taxi, Attention 2 Detail, DNow, Riverside Pharmacy, Rockin’ Cowbow Badlands Outpost, Sandstone Lanes, Hems Mechanical, Tech-Rex, and Fountain Tire Drumheller.
