Back on the February break for the kids in Drumheller and area, Stingray Radio (boom 99.5 and New Country 92.5) held their annual Hockey Day Classic at the Midland Outdoor Rink and Midland Community Hall.
It was one of the coldest days of the winter but we had a number of good sports come to the event. During the day there was a silent auction set up with a number of amazing items up for grabs. With all of the funds raised through the silent auction and other fundraising efforts, we raised $1,905 for the ODR and hall board.
A few weeks later the Midland Community Hall officially opened their new and improved outdoor rink. The Midland Community Hall Association are hosting their AGM on Tuesday, March 24th at 7:30 and are looking for some new members if you are interested.
As for the Hockey Day Classic, plans are already underway for the 2027 edition and it looks like the event will be held at an outdoor rink that has never hosted the Hockey Day Classic before. Details of the event will be shared once we get closer to February 2027.
