The endless winter seems to continue as Mother Nature does not want the seasons to change.
Areas around the Drumheller Valley and points to the southeast and west have been getting a good accumulation of snow this morning (Thursday). Stingray Weather Specialist Brandon Houck shares that this all stems from a system in Montana. “We’ve got low pressure in Montana, an inverted trough moving into Southern Alberta, and a bit of cold air from the north, which is a great recipe for this very wet snow.”
Houck notes that there could be some significant accumulation especially around the Calgary region. “Some areas may get around 20 centimeters of snow, especially the Calgary area, by the end of the day. A lot of snow is going to fall with this system. We are going to see the snow persist overnight tonight, into Friday morning. Temperatures are going to remain on the cooler side of average as we start the long weekend and eventually see a nice little rebound into early next week.”
Houck admits that “Sixth Winter” may pay a visit next week. “There are signs that Wednesday we may have another system nosing in from the north and this one may cause so more winter havoc in parts of the province…so stay tuned.”
