We hear about heavy foot drivers around the province all the time, usually on the QE II or Trans Canada Highway.
Looks like there are some around our area as well. Alberta RCMP shared through their social media on Thursday that a driver along Highway 9 near Drumheller was clocked at driving 180 kilometres per hour while passing a vehicle. When the RCMP caught up to them, they were still travelling at 168 km/h.
The driver of this vehicle was also without registration or insurance on hand.
This comes as there is a test section that has just opened on Highway 2 where the speed limit is 120 km/h for a 22 kilometre stretch south of Leduc. This is the highest posted speed limit in Canada, equaling that of the Coquihalla Highway in British Columbia, which is also at 120 km/h.
