UPDATE: On May 10, 2026, at 10:39 a.m., Strathmore and Airdrie RCMP were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 9 and 564. Upon arrival, a GMC truck pulling a trailer and a Ford Escape were determined to have been involved.
There were four occupants in the Ford Escape. An adult male and a child were transported to Calgary hospitals, the child via STARS, where they remain in critical condition. Two females from that vehicle are deceased; one passed at the scene and one in hospital. The driver and sole occupant of the pickup was also transported to hospital in serious condition.
An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene. The investigation continues. The Highway is still closed currently. Please refer to Alberta 511 for the most recent road updates.

Airdrie Rural RCMP is advising that they are on scene at a serious collision at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 564. Currently, traffic is being diverted around the collision scene. Highway 9 is closed between Township Road 252 and 260 and Highway 564 is closed between Range Road 271 and 273.
Please avoid the area.
