On Wednesday, May 6th, the Town of Drumheller hosted an open house at the Badlands Community Facility for the public to learn about all of the departments within the municipal government and the three year vision for Drumheller Town Council and Administration.
The Town had multiple stations set up showcasing public works, the water treatment process, projects for the upcoming year, recreation, business development, FCSS, and municipal enforcement. Representatives were on hand from each department to explain what their department is working on and to take questions from the public.
Mayor Tony Miglecz and Council were also on hand to answer questions from taxpayers. Mayor Miglecz was pleased with the attendance of the event. “We had a lot of really good questions. People learned a lot here. There is so much information. The heads of departments are here, the people that are doing the work are here, and they are able to answer most questions.”
With the relaxing setting, Miglecz feels the public are comfortable with Council’s Three Year Plan, so much so that they were joking with him during the open house. “After having quite a long conversation with one fella, he told me that I got another six months.”
About 175 people attended the event and it was appreciated by the Town of Drumheller the strong level of community engagement, and the positive feedback from participants. The Town of Drumheller anticipates offering further engagement and participation opportunities.
