You couldn’t have asked for better weather for a car show this past weekend. Boogie In The Badlands welcomed vehicle owners from across western Canada to the downtown core of Drumheller.
The event has continued to grow over the years, from just a one day event, to now a whole weekend event. It started on Friday evening with a cruise from Drumheller, through the 11 Bridges Road on Highway 10X out to Wayne for the evening.
Saturday was the main car show taking up most of the streets of the downtown. This year was their biggest total of registered vehicles with over 380 registered. Along with the vehicles, a number of vendors attended the event. The True North Pin Up Contest took place at the plaza with 14 pin up competitors. There were also three bands at the Downtown Plaza, the School of Rock Dalhousie, the Dust Collectors, and Mark Lorenz.
The show presented 11 awards to a number of competitors in many different classes including Best Ford, Best GM, Best Mopar, Top Import, Peoples Choice, just to name a few. One of the highlights was a motor build competition that two young men from DVSS ended up winning with the fastest time.
The show wrapped up on Saturday with a cruise from DVSS out to the Bleriot Ferry before heading to Rosedale for a wrap up BBQ.
Finally, the event offered an number of non-profit groups a chance for attendees to support, from the Girl Guides, to Kidsport, as well as the Homestead Antique Museum, which ran the 50/50 and raised nearly $1,200 for the Museum.
