The Town of Drumheller was pleased to learn that the Government of Alberta has provided the Town a matching grant through the Northern and Regional Economic Development (NRED) grant program supporting an update of Drumheller’s Economic Development Strategy.
This update coincides with the Town of Drumheller’s Three Year Strategic Plan for 2026 through 2029. This funding will support Drumheller’s ongoing efforts to attract investment, retain businesses and promote long-term economic growth. The Town of Drumheller has been awarded $41,500 through this grant to further advance economic development strategies in the Valley.
“Through the Northern and Regional Economic Development program, Alberta’s government is giving communities across the province the tools they need to attract investment, grow local economies and create jobs for hard-working Albertans,” said Joseph Schow, Minister of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration.
“We look forward to seeing how the Town of Drumheller uses this funding to unlock new opportunities for economic development and employment.”
Building on the Town’s existing strategy that was first developed in 2018 by local business and community leaders, the plan will guide additional economic development priorities for 2026–2029. Since its inception, approximately 90% of the original strategy’s identified actions are showing significant progress or have been completed, contributing to reduced commercial and industrial vacancy and a stronger housing market.
The updated strategy will continue focusing on key sectors including commercial industries, entrepreneurship, housing, tourism, healthcare, education and film.
“Updating our Economic Development Strategy is about making sure Drumheller continues to be a great place to invest, work and raise a family, stated Mayor Tony Miglecz. “With the Government of Alberta’s support, we can build on what’s worked, strengthen our partnerships and position our community to take advantage of new opportunities in the years ahead.”
This investment will support the Town of Drumheller in advancing its economic development priorities and delivering long-term benefits to the community.
