The weather was up in the air right until Saturday morning, but the sunshine came out for the graduates of Drumheller Valley Secondary School on Saturday, May 30th.
The DVSS Grad 2026 commencement ceremony was again held at the beautiful Badlands Amphitheatre for the 69 graduates. A couple of honourary guests were in attendance, including Mayor of Drumheller, Tony Miglecz, and Justin Bolin, Golden Hills School Division Board Trustee.
Many sponsors and contributors were hand to present bursaries and scholarships to the graduates. Haley Bagley and Carys Teske shared the Student Address to the Parents. Penny Messom responded on behalf of the parents, to the graduates. Carly Nundahl and Kallie Woodcock addressed the teachers, with teacher Peter Bjel responding. This year’s Valedictorian was Kelsey Scott.
Later in the evening, the grad held their Grand March at the Badlands Community Facility. The theme for their Grand March was “Life Is A Highway”. The fieldhouse at the BCF was decked out in vehicle themed decorations, including a working traffic light and a classic fuel pump.
