This past weekend was the final weekend for the use of the indoor pool of the Aquaplex for the summer.
Earlier this year, the Town of Drumheller had shared that the plan for the summer of 2026 was to close the indoor pool and the amenities like the waterslide, steam room, and hot tub for the summer season and only operate the outdoor pool.
The Drumheller Aquaplex announced that June 7th was the final day for use of the indoor pool and now all of their programing will take place in the heated outdoor pool. The schedule is similar to the schedule of the indoor pool. The Aquaplex advises that if there inclement weather like thunder and lightning or high winds, the outdoor pool will be closed.
As for swimming lessons during inclement weather, the Aquaplex shares that they have other activities that will take place with those in swimming lessons so lessons will not be cancelled due to weather.
During the closure of the indoor pool, Aquaplex and Facilities staff will carry out annual upkeep, including deep cleaning the indoor pool area, replacing the circulation pump, and completing repairs and improvements to the hot tub therapy jets.
No solid date has been announced for the transition back to the indoor pool after the summer but we will update you once that information is confirmed.
