The Town of Drumheller administration and Drumheller Town Council have been working to make small adjustments to the bylaw controlling paid parking within the valley.
The changes to the bylaw proposed an increase in the hourly rate of parking in the specified parking area will be increasing from $2.50 per hour to $5.00 per hour. The daily rate will also be increasing from $10.00 per day t0 $20.00 per day. These adjustments will bring Drumheller closer to some of the other communities our size that currently have a pay parking program.
There was discussion on the potential addition of the Newcastle Beach area as part of the pay parking program. That has been shelved for the time being as more discussion is needed with user groups of the area as well as preparation of the area if it was to be included in the pay parking program.
There was also conversation about a couple of areas on 1st Street East that will have 15-Minute parking. It will be two parking spots in front of the Valley Ice Cream Shop. There will also be two spots on Riverside Drive East directly in front of Fossil World. The curbs on these spots will be painted green and there may be possible stenciling signifying the spots as 15-Minute parking only.
The new pricing is in effect as of now. For a list of pricing for parking in the paid parking areas of Drumheller, including the Hoodoos, Suspension Bridge, BCF, Memorial Arena, and other specified lots, check out the Town of Drumheller website or the Hot Spot App.
