The Town of Hanna has been searching for a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) since current CAO Kim Neill served notice to Town Council of his intentions to retire by the end of September.
The Town shared on Wednesday, July 31st that Council is pleased to announce that Matthew Norburn has been selected as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Town of Hanna. Matthew will be assuming his new role and responsibilities on September 3, 2024. Matthew brings significant municipal government experience to the Town of Hanna most
recently as the CAO for the Village of Berwyn and prior to that senior management team experience from the MD of Greenview and the Town of Beaverlodge.
With exceptional educational credentials, direct relevant experience coupled with his ability to understand local government leadership from the administrative perspective, Hanna Town Council feels that Norburn will be a great fit and asset to the already solid team.
Mayor Danny Povaschuk expressed enthusiasm about the new appointment, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Matthew to our team. His extensive experience and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to build a vibrant and sustainable future for Hanna. We look forward to working together to achieve our community goals.”
“I am honoured to join the Town of Hanna as the new CAO,” said Norburn. “I am excited to work collaboratively with Council, staff, and the community to build on the town’s successes and tackle future challenges. Together, we will continue to make Hanna a great place to live, work, and visit.”
Mayor Povaschuk also took the opportunity to thank the outgoing CAO, Kim Neill, for his exceptional service. “We extend our deepest gratitude to Kim, who provided the Town of Hanna with exceptional service the past 11 years. His dedication, expertise, and leadership have been invaluable to our team and our community, and we wish him well as he transitions into retirement.”
