Just before 7:00PM on Sunday, July 5th, 2026, Hanna RCMP were conducting proactive patrols on Highway 9 near Range Road 165 as a result of an established Community Policing Priority, Road Safety and Traffic Enforcement, when an Eastbound vehicle was captured on radar at a speed of 222km/h in the posted 100km/h zone.
Officers were able to safely conduct a traffic stop on this vehicle which resulted in the driver being arrested for Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle under section 320.13(1) CC. Along with the Criminal Code charge, the 24 year old driver from Prince Albert, SK, was also charged with the following Provincial Offences:
1) Speeding: 222km/h in 100km/h zone – Mandatory Court
2) Perform or engage in stunt — $852 Fine
3) Drive Carelessly — $852 fine
A Mandatory Court appearance is scheduled for September 23rd, 2026 in Hanna, AB.
