Probably not surprising to those of us that live in the Drumheller Valley but as of Monday, we are now under a Fire Restriction.
Drumheller Fire Chief, Derian Rosario and Drumheller Fire and Rescue put in place the Fire Restriction on Monday, July 27th. This is due to the excessive heat over the past number of days and for the remainder of the week, which is drying out the wild grasses throughout the valley.
All fire permits are revoked and no new fire permits will be
issued. Use of Consumer Fireworks IS NOT ALLOWED.
All BBQs and smokers are still permitted, both charcoal and gas. Fire pits can also still be used as long as they conform to the bylaw for safe use.
Never leave any type of burning unattended. Ensure all fires
are extinguished. Soak it, Stir it Soak it again as needed.
Due to dry windy and warm conditions there is a high risk of
fire spread in dry, dead grass throughout the valley. This Restriction may escalate to a Full Fire Ban with little or no notice.
