Every year at the Canada Day Parade, the Drumheller Fire and Rescue firefighters carry boots for those along the parade route to donate to Muscular Dystrophy Canada, and this year was no different.
The difference in 2026 was the amount raised for the cause. In a release by the Town of Drumheller, they share that this year, Drumheller Fire and Rescue has raised a record-breaking $5,240 through its annual Fill the Boot campaign.
The funds will support Muscular Dystrophy Canada, a cause that Drumheller firefighters have championed since 1971. Across Canada, firefighters have supported Muscular Dystrophy Canada since 1954, helping raise awareness and funds for individuals and families affected by neuromuscular disorders that cause progressive muscle weakness and degeneration.
The success of this year’s campaign reflects the continued generosity of the Drumheller community. Over the past five decades, Drumheller Fire and Rescue has contributed more than $122,000 to Muscular Dystrophy Canada through local fundraising efforts.
Drumheller Fire and Rescue extends its sincere thanks to everyone who donated during the Canada Day Parade. Community support continues to play an important role in advancing the work of Muscular Dystrophy Canada and supporting those living with neuromuscular disorders.
