Oyen RCMP is seeking public assistance regarding two incidents involving damages to farm and construction equipment. The mischiefs occurred sometime between Aug. 24 at 7 p.m., and Aug. 25 at 6 a.m. Both incidents occurred near Cereal, Alta., on Highway 886. Two combines, a header and construction equipment were damaged during the incidents.

On July 14, 2026, at 10 p.m., Oyen RCMP responded to a disturbance at Ball Trailer Park in Oyen. Upon arrival, police located a male suffering serious injury. Investigation revealed that the victim had been struck with a baseball bat during an altercation.
As a result of the investigation, Errin Bloomquist (37), a resident of Oyen, has been charged with the following:
- Aggravated assault
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Uttering threats
Bloomquist was released from custody on conditions and he will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Hanna on Sept. 23, 2026.
