On Tuesday, September 15th, it was Fuel Good Day across the Co-op system including our local Co-op, Westview Co-op.
Every year, Westview Co-op chooses one or more non-profit groups to support and for 2026, they chose three. In the Olds, Carstairs, and Linden areas they supported Mountain View Emergency Shelter Society. In Drumheller, the recipient was the Badlands Amphitheatre, and in Hanna, Lynks was the recipient.
Co-op donated to the causes 5 cents for every litre of fuel, 5 cents per pound of propane, plus one dollar with every purchase of a cup of coffee, popcorn, or one of their “Big Cool” beverages. They also held a BBQ by donation between 11 and 1.
Alyssa Neudorf, Artistic Director for the Badlands Amphitheatre shares that they were very pleased to be one of the recipients this year. “We’re thrilled to be the recipient of this year’s Fuel Good Day at Co-op. We love working with them. We work with them with all of our building needs that we have at the site. It is really nice to have the community give back as well.”
There may be some that are surprised to know that the Badlands Amphitheatre is a non-profit business in the Drumheller Valley. “We are a not for profit registered charity arts and culture organization and we are successful because of the gifts and donations from our following and our audiences. It is not just ticket sales that help us succeed, it is those donations.”
The Badlands Amphitheatre have a couple of events coming up this fall with notes Neudorf. “We have Lightfest fireworks coming up on November 14th. That is going to be lots of fun. Music, fireworks, out in the valley. Then we have Journey To Bethlehem, our guided nativity experience, outside on set November 28th and 29th.”
The total raised has not yet been confirmed for all of the organizations. When that information becomes available, we will share it with you.
