On Monday, September 28th, the student body of Drumheller Valley Secondary School took to the streets to support a Canadian icon.
The annual Terry Fox Run took place just before noon. Students gathered in the gymnasium prior to their run to learn more about Terry Fox, and what the funds they raise do to help find a cure for cancer. Our own Jason Blanke had the honour of kicking off the run this year.
Last week, one of the school’s largest fundraisers for the Terry Fox Foundation was their annual Cake Auction. This year was a success once again raising $2,010 for the cause, which was nearly $400 more than in 2025. Students were also encouraged to bring a Twoonie for Terry yesterday for their run. Friday, they will also be offering a “dirty soda” fundraiser for the students, where again all the proceeds will be going to the Terry Fox Foundation.
Once the total amount raised is available by the students of DVSS, we will update the story.
