Our Dragons were looking for a couple of helpings of wins for the Thanksgiving weekend on home ice.
The Dragons faced the Camrose Kodiaks on Friday night. It was the first time the two teams have met since the first game of the regular season. That game would need overtime and with how evenly matched these teams are, that would be a good chance again on Friday. The Dragons would open the scoring 2:36 into the game when Lauchlan Kozicky scored his fourth of the year, unassisted. Drumheller would add to their lead with 6:17 left in the period when Dominic Seminoff scored his fourth of the year, from new Dragon Cole Landreville and Wyatt Yule. Drumheller lead 2-0 after one period.
In the second, Camrose was able to get on the board when Tyson Murray scored on the powerplay with 7:51 left in the period. The Dragons regained their two goal lead with 5:07 remaining in the second as Dominic Seminoff scored his second of the game (5), unassisted.
Cue the comeback for the Kodiaks. Evan Carver would score for Camrose 30 seconds into the third, making it 3-2 Dragons. Just over three minutes later, the Kodiaks would tie the game 3-3 on a goal by Brandon de Haas. Both teams would have their chances but the game would remain tied, through overtime, needing a shoot-out to determine a winner.
In the shoot-out, the Dragons would shoot first. Colter Playfair would score along with Kutcher Aquila and Holden Murphy would stop both shots he would face from Camrose, giving the Dragons the 4-3 shoot-out win.
