A project is hoping to move forward in Hanna that would develop a parcel of land into an AI Data Centre within the community.
In a press release by the companies involved, Genius Group Limited, FingerMotion Inc., and BlueFlare Energy Solutions, have announced that they have signed binding agreements to form GENUISpark Alberta Inc. and build an initial 100 MW of high-performance computing capacity across a cluster of 3 MW to 9.9 MW sites.
The first site, Hanna Campus No. 1, is a $24.3 million, 2.4 MW high-performance computing campus on a 20.2 acre site located along Highway 9 and Pioneer Trail, west of the Hanna Municipal Airport. The companies share that the project is the pilot site for the Alberta roll-out.
They plan to begin construction in December with production expected in the second quarter of 2027.
On Wednesday evening, an open house is being hosted by BlueFlare at the Hanna Legion from 5 PM to 7 PM. There will be a presentation at 5:30 PM as part of the open house.
