Hunger Awareness Week is Canada’s only campaignÂ to raise awareness of the issue of hunger in Canada the role of food banks, individuals and communities in helping those effected by hunger. Our goal is toÂ engage Canadians about the solvable problem of hunger in Canada.
Monday Sept 18: Awareness Display - Come down to the Thrift Store to see our educational display. From Sept 18-22 the Salvation Army Food Bank is challenging our community to share facts and information about hunger and initiatives or programs that help improve hunger issues in our community. Tuesday Sept 19: Volunteer appreciation - A big thanks to our dedicated volunteers, the Salvation Army sincerely appreciates all your generous effort. Please call 823-2215 for information on how you can get involved and play a part in improving hunger issues
Wednesday Sept 20 – Sally’s Social Café – Join us at Sally’s Social Café for an opportunity to respond to hunger needs in Drumheller through support of the Elder Care Real Food Program. Location: Knox United Church at 12:00, $3 for lunch.
Thursday Sept 21–Thought Bubble Thursday - Come by the Salvation Army Thrift Store between 10:30 and 12:30 for an interactive opportunity to learn more about hunger and how our community can make a positive impact on the issue of hunger.
Friday Sept 22- Skip a meal/ Give a meal -Skip a meal and donate the equivalent funds to the local food bank. Then hashtag your experience or share a fact about hunger at #hungerweek- go to our webpage or hungerawarenessweek.ca for facts on hunger other shareable info.
